Feeds rank by engagement, not by what you care about. Spool is self-hosted and scores entries against your actual interests. Then it reaches the end and stops, breaking the infinite doom-scroll.

Why it ends

Most feeds never run out.
That is a design choice, not a fact of nature. If there is always one more item, you never reach a natural place to stop.
Browsing vs. scrolling

Scrolling isn't the problem.
Flipping through a crate is enjoyable partly because the crate ends. Spool keeps the browsing and drops the endlessness.

Every item is a card you can throw away. Drag one left or right and it tilts, picks up speed and goes, and the next one is already underneath. Reading should feel like handling objects.

How it works

Fetching
Each subscription is polled on its own schedule and kept as a local copy, so reading never waits on the network.
Scoring
A scoring service rates entries against the interests you set, and learns from what you open and what you throw away. Nothing here sells advertising, so it answers to you and to nobody else.
Ending
The stack holds what is unread inside your window and nothing else. Clear it and there is nothing further to load.
